sisyphus (2015) for quartertone accordion and organ

"Sisyphus is inspired by the works of composers Olivier Messiaen, Ivan Wyschnegradsky, and the philosopher Albert Camus. The cyclical nature of this composition is inspired by King Sisyphus’ punishment for deceiving the Greek Gods: endlessly pushing a boulder up a hill, only for it to roll away as Sisyphus nears the peak. For me, this composition is an exploration of Camus’ Myth of Sisyphus where pushing the boulder represents a never-ending leap of faith against all odds into the unknown."

Sisyphus is approximately 9 minutes long and was written for and dedicated to Veli Kujala and Susanne Kujala. they premiered it March 7, 2019 at Musik an St. Martin in Kassel, Germany.
