murmurs (2016) for clarinet and trombone

Murmurs was composed in 2016 while an artist in residence at the Listhus AiR program. According to the locals, if the circumstances are ideal, the aurora borealis can emit subtle high pitched sounds. While we never had a chance to experience this aspect of the aurora, we the artists in residence must have seen it 9 or 10 times over the course of 9 weeks.

Murmurs was written for Julia Lougheed and premiered May 20, 2016 by Julia Lougheed and Ryan Flint.
