while at montclair state university doing my undergrad studies in composition, i had the unique privilege to study composition and microtonal music with Dean Drummond (1949-2013). dean opened my eyes to the possibility of music beyond 12tone equal, and expanded my ears in a way i could have never anticipated.

for Dean Drummond is scored for any grand staff instrument, or consort of like instruments. it was premiered on marimba by Alan Buxbaum April 26, 2013 at Montclair State University.
