cricket dreams (2022)

“Dreams of Crickets” is a short etude that treats the left hand as a percussion instrument separate from the right hand that focuses on plucking open strings and playing harmonics. The sounds build into a gentle landscape of sounds that should evoke the sensation of crickets dreaming during late summer.

it was written for and dedicated to Ueda Asako 上田朝子 and was premiered by her on Oct. 16th 2022, at the Seiryo Hall in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo.
